Anamorphic Girl

Anamorphosis Girl

Spring 2013: 18” x 24”; Graphite

I was exploring anamorphosis through this drawing. First I sketched the little girl and then traced her onto an area of glass that was 4” high. then, I set up the glass so that it stood at an angle almost perpendicular to the paper. Next, I put a DV camera behind the glass in order to stabilize one viewpoint, and fed the stream to my computer via Firewire. I traced the projected image by looking at my computer monitor, and then filled in the details. The idea is that the girl would be looking up at and giving a flower to the viewer as the viewer looked down at the drawing rather than straight at it.
